Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on children and adolescents: determinants and association with quality of life and mental health, a cross-sectional study

This study shows that 13% of children and adolescents were severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Geneva. Those suffering from a chronic health problem, living in an unfavourable family environment or whose health behaviours had deteriorated as a result of the pandemic were particularly at risk. A severe impact of the pandemic was in turn associated with reduced quality of life and mental health, even after health restrictions had been lifted.

Prevalence and risk factors for post-COVID syndrome in children and adolescents

This study showed that a significant proportion of children and adolescents suffered from persistent symptoms after infection with COVID-19, compatible with post-COVID syndrome. The 12-17 age group appears to be most at risk of developing these symptoms. These findings highlight the importance of early detection and management by primary care.

Prospects and concerns for the future among teenagers in 2022

As yet little explored, the future time perspectives (FTPs) and concerns of adolescents described in this research carried out in Geneva highlight the need to implement interventions that strengthen the resilience of the youngest with regard to the future.

Acne-related quality of life and mental health in adolescents: a cross-sectional analysis

The results of the study show that teenagers with acne who engage in regular physical activity and benefit from good social support have a better quality of life in relation to their acne, which translates into better mental health. On the other hand, screen time and the use of social networks considerably reduce this quality of life. Dermatologists should integrate these considerations into their clinical practice to ensure effective patient care.
