Why take an interest in mobility in Geneva?

At the end of 2024, a new questionnaire on mobility in the canton of Geneva was sent to all participants in the Specchio study. Based on their responses, the aim of the questionnaire is to gain a better understanding of the links between people's travel habits and needs, and their health. Why is this questionnaire important?

The way we travel is an essential component of human life and is linked to health. Taking the car, public transport, walking or adopting more sedentary lifestyles, exposes us to various health risks or benefits. For example, unlike so-called "passive" means of transport such as the car, analyses show that active mobility, such as walking or cycling, improves many aspects of health, including cardio-respiratory and cognitive functions, sleep, bone health and mental health. Being physically active also helps to reduce mortality and chronic disease.

The aim of the mobility questionnaire is to gain a better understanding of how lifestyles influence the health of the population, based on the specific characteristics of the canton of Geneva.

The new questionnaire on mobility and health is available in your personal space.
