Research partners

More than 120 participants and partners in the study Specchio study study met on 25 June at the Biotech Campus to exchange views with the research teams from the Population Epidemiology Unit (UEP) of the HUG Primary Care Medicine Department.
The participants, all of whom are involved in the UEP's population studies and Specchio in particular, exchanged ideas and shared their experiences and questions about the study and the current challenges of population research in Geneva.
A replay of the event is available here.
- The power of interaction
Interaction was at the heart of the meeting. A wide range of subjects were discussed during the morning: mental and physical health, the use of screens, but also diet, physical activity, the impact of the pandemic, living with chronic illnesses and being a carer. The aim of the meeting was to consolidate links between Specchio participants and researchers.
- The role of science
The meeting was also an opportunity to explain how science, in the field of population epidemiology, can help inform us about health. A number of Specchio researchers also explained how data analysis works, as well as current research themes.
Prof. Idris Guessous, Head of the Department of Primary Care Medicine, and Dr. Mayssam Nehme, Head a.i. of the UEP, the principal investigators of the study along with Prof. Silvia Stringhini, outlined some guidelines for the future of this longitudinal study, for which long-term commitment is key.
The partner participants will meet again to work together on specific themes and to strengthen population-based research in Geneva.
