New advances in post-COVID

Teams from the HUG's Department of Primary Care Medicine (SMPR) specialising in post-COVID conditions are providing new insights into the lasting after-effects suffered by some people following infection with SARS-CoV-2.

In a comprehensive article in The Conversationa number of researchers, including Dr Mayssam Nehme, clinical head of the SMPR at the HUG, compare data from international studies on the subject. Among the main hypotheses and mechanisms explored in relation to post-COVID, research is focusing more closely on viral replication and chronic inflammatory states.
