Launch of the SEROCoV-Schools study

The Population Epidemiology Unit of the Department of Primary Care Medicine at the HUG is heavily involved in the launch of the SEROCoV-Schools study, which aims to describe the dynamics of SARS-CoV-2 transmission among children aged 2 to 6 attending crèches and schools in the canton of Geneva.
The SEROCoV-Schools study includes a surveillance component lasting until the end of the school year, and an investigation component should one or more cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection occur in a school or crèche.
The tests, which are not very invasive, involve taking a drop of blood from the fingertip (capillary test) and a smear from the back of the mouth. The parents of the children being monitored fill in weekly questionnaires for themselves and their children via the Specchio-COVID19 platform.
This study is supported by theFederal Office of Public Healththe Fondation privée des HUG and the Fondation des Grangettes.
