Healthy ageing

Over the last few decades, the structure of the Swiss population has changed considerably, and the proportion of older people is increasing. This ageing of the population has numerous social, economic and health consequences, as well as impacting on how people live together across the generations. Healthy ageing is a major public health issue.
What about the health of the 65+ in Geneva?
Thanks to the responses of people aged 65 and over to the questionnaire specifically addressed to them, the research teams will be able to gain a better understanding of the state of health of this population group within the canton.
In the Specchio study, for example, researchers are looking at the physical, social and intellectual activity of people aged 65 and over, as these factors can influence their well-being, independence and quality of life. Ageing is a wide-ranging issue, with many dimensions of health to be considered, including social participation (i.e. the habits, activities and interactions of a person in their living environment), family and intergenerational ties, independence in daily life, physical activity and mobility, and cognitive functions such as memory.
Ageing well in mind, body and with others
Thanks to individual monitoring over time, the data collected will enable us to gain a better understanding of the mechanisms of ageing and identify the risk factors or, on the contrary, the factors associated with healthy ageing.
The greater the number of responses from across Geneva, the more data researchers will have at their disposal to guide public policy with precision in prioritising actions and support measures aimed at keeping people in good health in the canton for as long as possible, even at advanced ages. If you are aged 65 or over, it is essential for the quality of this study that you complete this questionnaire, whatever your current state of health.
The 65+ questionnaire is still available in your personal space.
