An update on the immunity rate

Our seroprevalence studies have made it possible to measure the proportion of the Geneva population already exposed to SARS-CoV-2 (the virus responsible for COVID-19).

These studies show that it takes time for a population to acquire the immunity it needs to halt the spread of a virus. Our latest results show that more than a fifth of Genevans (22%) have developed antibodies against this virus. This figure, as at 12 December, compares with 6% in mid-April 2020 and 11% in June 2020. These results are consistent with those observed in the rest of Switzerland, as shown in the map above drawn up as part of the Corona Immunitas national research programme.

Although immunity has doubled in six months, it is still far from sufficient to protect the entire population over the coming weeks and months.
