Accurately assessing the health of the population
On 26 September 2024, the Population Epidemiology Unit (UEP) of the Department of Primary Care Medicine at the HUG was invited by the Prevention and Health Promotion Sector of the Office cantonal de la santé (OCS) to present an update on the results and progress of the Specchio study and to exchange views with those working in the field of prevention and health promotion in Geneva.

On the basis of ongoing epidemiological analyses, Dr Nehme, head of the UEP, presented an overview of the results in relation to general health, mental health, social support, and the social and demographic determinants associated with these different subjects. Taking a salutogenic approach, i.e. focusing on the factors that promote health and well-being by concentrating on the resources that enable people to remain healthy despite difficulties, Specchio is also looking at indicators such as physical activity, nutrition and well-being, among others.
Every year, Specchio's digital flexibility enables new health indicators to be explored in collaboration with the OCS, in line with the priorities of the Cantonal Health Plan 2024-2028.
